Our Vacation

We have just returned from a four day, leave the kids at home, camping trip to Sandbanks Provincial Park. The weather was great and so were the beaches and the company. Our first stop was to visit Linda Swaine at Rose Haven Farm in Picton. Linda has been a wealth of sheep raising information to us and is helpful with the fibre end of the business as well. Sunday was spent snapping photos of the architecture of Prince Edward County on our way to visit Bill Stearman and his partner Gene at their shetland farm. A great time was had checking out Bill's flock with another friend, Lynn McKay, and discussing sheep and all of our plans over a delicious leg of lamb from Bill's flock. Home again and time to move my flock to a new pasture and wait for shearing time.

Baxter Comes to Town

Here is a photo of my herdsire from last season, Baxter, a fawn katmoget ram who came to us all the way from Alberta. I purchased him and another ewe from Carol Arthur, to help increase my genetic pool and to add softness and fineness to my fleeces. It was a success and all of his lambs from this year are beautiful and soft. All but one ewe lamb are katmoget marked, badger face. Here is th proud papa and some of his offspring.

Welcome to my site where I will showcase some of my favourite animals. I am a spinner and a knitter and a fibre fanatic. Shetland sheep make great little pets and lawn mowers and shetland wool is my favourite woollen fibre to spin.
